24 24 24

Some gifts I have gotten for my birthday, which is on Thursday, or more like tomorrow, but there has been no waiting involved. Just wonderful things for me to love. I think my plan is to go out for lunch with just my mum, to take her out, because its true that it is her birthday too. (Something she's been saying for years, but of course now I get it.)

From Greg, its not just a book, its a bible.

A chair and sheepskin from my mum. These are also for the purposes of sewing, and comfort of course.

From Bubzee; a haircut. For the purpose of looking suave while I am sewing. Of. Course.

Sitting and Sewing

We practiced our sitting up today. And stepping about, but mostly sitting. She still topples over every once and a while.

I also finished making myself a bag today. Its been months in my head, and 2 weeks of intermittent work. I am very pleased with the results. It could hang a little comfier, and some plans I had didn't work out, but that all just shows me that I still have learning to do with sewing, and probably always will.

I'll add more photos of the bag here: http://illuseevil.tumblr.com/

Nathan, Jacob, Olive, and the park.

My brain slipped last night and I told Morgan I would watch Nate and Jacob even though I had to drive my mum to a Dr. appt. this morning. I also had to go to the food bank, mum and baby yoga, wash diapers, and have Amy over. It turned out more like drive mum to her appt., go to the food bank, get home wash diapers, then have the kids dropped off just as my mum calls me to come and pick her up. She had to take a taxi instead. Apparently I am so helpful it turns right back around to inconvenient. Jake helped me hang up the diapers, and then we all went to the park a block over. Olive strapped to me in my wrap, Nate in a stroller and Jacob on foot. Very very slow foot. A women passing me joked that I still had room for one on my back. Alas it is true, room for one more! After all the adventuring with the kids, when Morgan came to pick them up I was so tired Olive and I just took a nap instead of yogiing. And Amy was riding our wavelength cause I got a text an hour later saying she was too tired to come. So today only turned out half as busy as I thought it would.
At the food bank I ordered a "Good Food Box". Its part of a community program to buy locally produced fruits and veggies large scale, so they can be distributed at a more affordable price. We'll be getting a medium size box, and I guess I'll see how much produce that entails. It cost me 10$, and is supposed to feed about 2 people for 2 weeks.
I also made started making myself a hat, and the first version turned out too small, so instead I made myself a hat, and I made Jacob one too. See us sporting them below.

Biiiig Stretch!

A good sequence I think.
Not ten minutes after I made the post before last, a few days ago, Olive was rolling over right in front of my eyes. She's been going on adventures now. Not crawling, but butt in the air wiggles across the room. That's an exaggeration actually, she can't get much farther than a few inches. Her reorientations are wonderful. I lay her down, turn around for a second, and then when I come back her feet are where her head was! So much wonderful progress.
I have been able to get a lot of sewing done this past week. In the process of making some fanny packs, but they are all just cut so far. The next few days will be hectic, as my Mum and Dad are moving from their home into an apartment on Saturday. Its been quite a chore all around finding homes for all their stuff. My mum has a lot, but she's done good I think, and pared it down. My job will be to watch all the babies come moving time. 4 month old, 6 month old, and 2 year old, always fun. Did I say that? We'll see.

A Garden Gnome in the Kitchen.

Some weekend pictures by Tony:

We had a lovely casserole lunch (possibly my favourite kind of lunch) at Amy & Tony's Sunday. Her sewing machine had been wonky and she didn't use it anymore because she could not figure out what was the cause of the crazy stitching. I couldn't have that. A sewing machine put away! No no no. To my own surprise I was able to fix it. Some adjustments here and there, a thread change, and a good oiling (maybe too much). I don't even oil my own machines, so it was actually my first time. And so simple, I'm thinking shame on me for treating my own so badly.

Another thing; I don't really care about spelling. I mean if you'd like to spell however you want, go ahead. As long as I can understand what you mean. But I care about my own, and I spell my words with U's. Favourite. Labour. Neighbourhood. Honour. But spell check disagrees with me. And its an eyesore. Red underlines all over the place! Why can't it accept both ways?

Orangutan

What is this face!? Its not a snapshot, she's been making it on and off for days, sometimes she goes on for half an hour. What silliness!
Finished the bar pads, and have delivered them to be sold at bikurious. I did not however take pictures of our new living room. Hmmm oh well. I've gone tons of laundry done, but not folded, and I am so sleeeeeeepy.

Messy home.

House cleaning to do:
x Dishes
x Wipe down table, counter, and stove
x Water seedlings
x Water other plants
x Fold and put away diapers
x Fold, hang and put away clothes
x Hang up coats
x Organize shoes
x Tidy bathroom sink area
x A load of laundry
x Sweep
x Mop (always on the list, I never ever get to it)

Olive is napping. Every once in a while she moans really loudly. When I go to check on her, she is still sleeping though. In general she's been very moany/whiny. Coupled with the intense drooling I am positive she'll be getting some teeth very soon. Yay for my nipples!
I do not want to unnecessarily medicate Olive (obviously), but this has been a hard one for me. Getting your teeth is a part of life, growing pains, but when she has been frantic and in tears, gumming on my fists, I feel like that is a point where a little Oragel to numb the gums is best. I choose calm and medicated over frantic and pure.
Yesterday, before Greg came home from the work (stopping at the pharmacy), we lay in bed and I wrapped Olive up tight, cuddled her, and she cried for an hour before falling asleep with me. She was so tired she napped the whole evening, and then still slept all night with me.

I've had another week of lethargy. I constantly want a nap. But I have also gotten a lot of sewing done this week. A bunch of appliques on a hat for Olive I found in the road while walking on Saturday, and 7 out of 12 bar-pads I am making for Bikurious to sell in their shop. I also silk screened like 40 tags to put on anything that I make. I am thinking maybe then I have not actually been lazy, but it feels as though because I haven't been constantly stressing myself this week. Isn't it strange?

Things I got done today.

- Tidied the house.
- Hung out with Morgan, Jakob, and Nate.
- Got half a haircut.
- Ate Doubles with my mum.
- Cleaned out my closet, and got rid of a bunch of unused clothing.
- Sewed all my shirts that didn't fit.
- Dye-bathed a vest, skirt, and tube-top.
- Watered my seeds (tomatoes and broccoli have sprouted!)
- Watched half and episode of The Biggest Loser.
- Dishes
- Put babe to bed.

Sometimes I need to remind myself that I get things done. I tend to like being busy. I get a little sad when I wake up late, the house is a mess, I dont shower, eat properly (at all), knock something off my "to do" list, or go outside. Really who doesn't? Sometimes all those things happen (or dont) in one whole day, and by the end I feel like mush. Today was good though, I feel contented, and super excited that my seeds have begun sprouting! Soon I will have a lovely deck garden to keep me busy. My computer isn't registering my memory card. So unfortunately I cant show some photos.

Sewing

Yesterday I sewed Olive some tights and leg warmers after dreaming them. Very awesome. Also check out the bumblebee hat. My mum and Morgan found it from Jade's baby clothes.
