Nutritional Yeast and Hot Sauce

I can assume that everyone has their own 'gross' food combinations, like mashed potatoes and honey, or sun-chips in a tuna sandwich. Today mine is leftover pasta salad, HEATED, with hot-sauce and nutritional yeast. Delicious. So so delicious.

On the weekend Olive took some steps. Toward her daddy. I've been noticing her standing on her own a lot more often lately. I am excited when she walks, but really I have learned by now that she'll do it when she is ready and not a moment before, so there is no use egging and pushing too much.

These past few weeks its been pretty difficult feeding Olive . I mean nursing her of course. We have no solid food problems, except maybe that she <3's booby greatly. I wasn't kidding the other day when I said that the dry weather is making my everything dry, including my nipples and I am in A LOT of pain, that involves cringing and counting down minutes and seconds until I can unlatch her. Needless to say I am pretty down about it, because I am in no way ready to stop nursing, and neither is Olive. If she was I would. But I feel like I would be cheating her. Also this is momentary. I think back a year, when I was new to nursing and had this same pain, from newness not dry weather, although come to think about it maybe we were accompanied by the weather then too, I was able to persevere then, and I will now.
Most of our nursing is during 'quiet' times now anyway, like nap and bedtime, we still nurse through the night as well. Last night was the first ever where I had to tell her no, she wiggled and was upset, awoke more than usual, but was otherwise very cooperative with me. A bittersweet moment, as she turns over, back to my front, and spoons with me as she would falling asleep with Greg. And so our relationship begins to change. She is a big person now. Much her own.

9 months

Lately Olives been up to a couple of things: Pulling herself up to stand and falling down, or taking things out of other things. Her toy-box  is only fun when its full. She picks each thing out one by one and then when it is empty, its no fun anymore. Shelves in the kitchen? Everything must come off of them! Shoes on the rack? Nope, a big pile in the hallway! She entertains herself.
She also wants to play peek-a-boo with anything she can cover her face with. That's including string, so I am not sure if she gets the concept, but she definitely knows that when she puts something in front of her face and  pulls it away quickly giggles will ensue from anyone around. And so she does, all the time.
There's a tooth in her mouth and another one coming. Every morning she poohs in the potty, I barely have to tell her what to do anymore. I just sit her down and her face goes red. Its really quite astonishing, but I love that she does it.
And that's where were at. A happy kid.

This could go on for hours.

Skating

I do not know how to skateboard. That is, until yesterday! I'm about as good as Olive.

Pictures of me rulin' it.

And Olive rulin' it.

Greg is a really good teacher. In all things, not just skating. He is patient, and understands what other people don't understand, and explains it clearly, then he is patient again. He's has taught me to play drums as well. Which is another thing I thought I'd be retarded at for life.
Pamela is with us for the week because her lease was up yesterday, her new home will be in Toronto, and there are two more weeks of school. Oh yeah, and she's my bestie, right. That's her voice in the video.

Edible?

Not to overwhelm you with cuteness, but I mean seriously!? Yesterday Brian and Greg were prepping for their recording session, which spanned Friday-Saturday-Sunday, in our living room. Its pretty great how Olive is surrounded by such wonderful things. Music, flowers, Kittens!

Today, we all went into the "studio" (a jam space) to get it all finished up, Olive too. Greg once asked me to help him write some lyrics and I passively said yes, not thinking too much of it. But he followed me around reminding me daily, hounding, nagging, asking nicely, until one night I had some free time, we sat down together, and I knew exactly what he was trying to write about, so it somehow all came out of me. And then when it came around to recording he wanted me to sing it too. I was so so so nervous today, because I have never used my voice in that way. I sing, but not with the force I knew I would have to for this song. I completely surprised myself, it turned out fuckin' rad. So much so that I helped Greg out with some vocals on another song as well. The one he wrote about becoming a parent, about how awesome Olive is. Then we (Greg, Brian, Rick, Sean, and I) did some group vocals on some other tunes. And now I am so excited to see how it all turned out. I'm invested in it now. :)

Also I am experimenting with new colors, but I am not sure about them yet. We'll see.

Springtime fun, Greg's birthday, and the day after... and, and, and...

For Greg's birthday I made him pie and homemade pierogies, and we hung out at home, then got into a fight. Which is what I think always happens on peoples birthday's because even when you dont want to expect anything on your birthday I think most people secretly hope its gunna be super-amazing-special-time, and then its just another day, and well. But fights are silly, and all the apologies were made from both sides.
These are the pie and pierogies...

There have also been so many awesome days in the sun last week that I took pictures of and never had time to share. Like me and Olive in the backyard hanging laundry (she slept, I hung). And Jakob (EDIT: Jacob, yeah seriously I'm not a good aunt) entertaining himself for an extremely long time at Morgan's. He'll go form one thing to the next in minutes, and is at some stage of super excited about destroying everything. He ate dirt... from his mum's little broccoli seedlings. :(

Also this happened today:
