24

Initially for my birthday, all I wanted was the time to go for a bike ride with Greg, and maybe a haircut. I haven't cut my hair in a while, and I'm growing a tradition in my head of birthday cuts for all, even though Greg, true to father form, protests me cutting Olive's hair when she turns one (we will see), and I am not so sure that I don't want to hold out longer and let my bangs shade the views. The ends are getting pretty nubbly I have to say.
But, if anyone wanted to spend money on me I want the winter session of yoga that we cannot afford here. One class per week. Or even better; a babysitter once a week so that I could actually attend classes, since they are all before Greg even gets home from work. blrrrg.

Daddy Daughter Time

Greg has really never been left alone with Olive. He takes care of her often by himself. They hang in the living room every weekend morning while I sleep in. And he's awesome at entertaining her. Better than me. Sometimes even at anticipating her needs. But I am usually a short distance away, there in a sec if they need me. (My boobs are always a close by, some might prefer to say). I am fully confident they are fine without me. But a few weekends ago we had a moment where it became evident that Greg is not so sure about it. Just a slight fear that without me she would scream herself to death, and he'd die of disappointment in himself. Makes sense really. When I haven't been given the chance to prove I can do something, fear creeps up in me too, and the longer it goes on, the scarier anything can become. So we realised that maybe its about time for some weekly Daddy Daughter Time, which also pleasantly translates into weekly Mummy Alone Time. I've signed up for 9 weeks of unlimited classes at Ambaa Yoga, where Olive and I do our Mum and Baby class. I'm going to try out a bunch and see which ones are right for me. It's perfect because its right down the street, just a phone call away, should the Daddy and Daughter Dying commence.

Rhubarb-Strawberry Pie!

Making a dough for pie crust. Greg and I found A LOT of food in the dumpster a couple of days ago. Including some strawberries and since I am keen on improving my crust (which has been frustrating, getting increasingly crumblier with the years despite being the EXACT same recipe!), I'm going to make a rhubarb-strawberry-tapioca pie tomorrow. Hopefully the berries aren't all fuzzy by tomorrow. The rhubarb is frozen since its obviously not the season yet. (But soon!)
Our cat's been insane trying to get outside, and today toppled over a giant plant into my bed, aaaaaaaaand broke 2 out of 3 of my pumpkin seedlings. I am sad. And mad. And he's a cat. So there isn't much I can do right?
Wrong, he's going on a leash on our clothes-line!
Besides that Olive and I went for our first Mum and Babe Yoga class today. Much fun, minimal crying.
